OMG! Look no further for a company to do windows and doors. This company is amazing. Our story is interesting-our land was completely burnt out by 1 of the 3 Slave Lake area wildfires in 2011. Sadly we had just purchased the acreage 6 months before. We were looking for something to decrease noise from the highway behind us. Unfortunately the noise had been getting worse and worse and our shelter belt still had years before it would be helpful with noise reduction. I was losing my mind from the noise! I found PWS by sheer accident when searching online for sunrooms if you can believe it! The operator of the sunroom business (Clayton) pointed me in the direction of PWS. I thought it was insane to be talking about window/door replacements since the house was only 10 years old (although 75 % of the windows were already leaking … also a bone of contention with me-bad previous window quality). What good would replacing windows and doors do? This went on for about 6 months - me humming and hawing-then Clayton sent me Ivan’s youtube - the one where Ivan opens his window and there is immense noise from a hydrovac next door then he closes the window and boom - NO noise! Whaaaat? So, my opinion changed after that video! I talked hubby into going to the showroom because of that video! Hubby had been very, very concerned about replacing frames because of stucco and brick moulding damage. We spent some time with Ivan learning the design, how the old windows/doors are removed and signed up for Phase 1 - Hubby wanted to trial a few windows and a door. It took about 10 weeks for the products to arrive from Poland/Ukraine (previously we had tried to get a local guy to measure/order and it took the guy 6 months to come measure and after 6 months the windows from China were still NOT here). This past week PWS replaced 4 windows and a garden door. The guys took 3 hours on the smallest window being very careful to not damage the stucco. After they learned the ropes and we agreed the MDF replacements of our wood trims would be ok they went to town for many more hours on day 1. On day 2 they were back to change out our half round window above the entrance door. That new window was a marvel to see two guys install. It probably weighed 250 pounds (these European windows and doors are probably twice the weight of the type we Canadians are used to). End result INCREDIBLE difference with the noise. We barely hear any highway noise in rooms with replacements (45 decibels drop can be expected and I have learned decibel reduction in humans is actually logarithmic-a small reduction can make a HUGE difference). As for the energy efficiency-we sure can’t wait to see the benefits (including no longer thawing ice patches on the inside of windows and doors). These units are one piece and SOLID! And oh my goodness the door! - my most favourite part of this week (see photo). My outdoors have moved into the house ❤️. Thanks Ivan for recommending THAT door (a few times if I recall) you know what you are doing! To wrap up our story no damage was done to the stucco (well just a nick that we have touch up paint for-takes 2 minutes). We have a bit of painting to do such as the new MDF, a few wall touchups, putty and staining some frames but this is just a few hours of work and we always have the paint for these occasions so it is not like a whole room needs repainting.Lastly is the price-you may think these are expensive but honestly they aren’t. I was quoted $6800 for 9 cheaper quality from a local guy. Ivan’s prfor 4 different windows (one was a special cut and a new set of garden doors probably worth 4k alone was 13260. Ivan provided a 20 percent discount (in line and probably better than going through CGH rebates which really are not great) for a total of 10605. This includes all the travelling expenses for the guys too. Thanks to Ivan, Clayton, Yurii, Achtim and Timor and even your families for sparing you the extra time needed to travel and hotel over night. The Phase 2 order is coming and going to replace 10 more windows before the snow flies.
